What’s the Best Laptop to Buy for Work?

From Manassas to DC to Philadelphia to Rockville, our engineers are schlepping their laptops from client site to client site.

Once they arrive at their appointments, their laptop must perform. Want an IT specialist who can’t get his own technology to work properly? Me neither.

We rely on our machines to execute long and complex security scans, to handle our data-heavy Client Management System without pause, and to remain in one solid-yet-portable piece no matter how many miles we travel.

When selecting which laptop we’d buy as a company, then, our three main requirements were durability, power, and a strong track record of reliability over time.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad fit the bill, and we haven’t looked back since.

For our purposes, this laptop has performed beautifully; over six years of use, we have had exactly zero complaints. While these certainly didn’t come cheap, we simply had to factor that part out in favor of their capabilities.

If durability, power, and reliability aren’t at the top of your list for laptop needs (maybe you need graphics capabilities beyond all else, for example), this very well may not be the product for you.

I suggest you consult with your IT provider for recommendations—they know your situation the best, and can work through your options with you.
