The 5 Summer Apps Not to Miss

None of them.

Let me start off with a story.

Just last week, I took my daughter to the beach to see her cousins for the first time in seven months. Next to the sand and surf was an indoor play facility complete with trampolines and, well, basically everything an 8-year-old could ask for.

I chose this venue not only for the amenities, but for the WiFi.  They play, I work–it’s the perfect balance, right?

At the end of the day, as my daughter and her cousins shared exhausted smiles and goodbyes, I realized that while I was successful in checking and answering my emails, I was even more successful in missing the entire experience.

So, rather than talking about what apps are out there this summer, I want to try a different tack.

Why do we take vacations in the first place?

We jump on planes and trains to “get away” from everyday life, yet we do everything we can to reconnect once we get there.  How is our battery supposed to recharge if we’re constantly draining it?

As COO of a Managed Services Provider, I spend the majority of my time singing technology’s praises. Too often, though, it seems that we forget about one of the biggest benefits of all: the ability to turn technology off.

If you’re at all able, I encourage you to try to disconnect from technology on your next vacation, and simply enjoy the world and the people around you.
