Job Description
As a Network Engineering Consultant, you will participate in all technical areas of our business, providing you with an opportunity to work with a range of technologies and business settings. You will provide direct on-site support to key clients, manage or coordinate installation and deployment projects. Additionally, you will be able to participate—and thus learn about and grow your professional capabilities—in a wide range of Optimal Networks' business practices, including assisting in writing proposals and reports, mentoring the technical staff, and helping determine the technical direction and vision for the company.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for a Network Engineering Consultant are:
- Provide superb technical system and user support both to your designated clients and to all clients whose projects you participate in
- Establish, maintain, and increase client satisfaction through professional, courteous, and caring service
- Identify client needs, design, propose and implement solutions, including writing recommendations , specifying equipment, assisting in or directly writing proposals
- Troubleshoot and resolve client network and computer system issues
- Manage or coordinate installation, upgrade, or deployment projects, including providing onsite direction for additional network engineers
- Assist network engineers in troubleshooting difficult or time-sensitive problems
- Assist other Optimal Networks network engineers with projects, as a direct participant, and to lend your unique areas of expertise when required
- Mentor and assist network engineers, both in technical and human practices
- Participate in presales process, helping to explain to clients and prospective clients the benefits of the specific technologies being proposed
- Maintain your knowledge and expertise by learning new and evolving technologies, and acheiving approproate industry and professional certifications
- Contribute to company vision and direction in helping improve technical practices, as well as choosing key technologies and issues to address as we grow
Position Requirements:
We are looking for future engineering consultants who have ALL the following traits and technical skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- 3-5 years “hands-on" relevant experience.
- HONESTY and integrity in all dealings
- Excellent communication and service skills for face to face client interaction.
- Proven track record demonstrating an ability to work with supporting, managing, troubleshooting, designing, and upgrading information systems technologies in a small & medium sized business environment.
- Deep experience and expertise in Microsoft Windows Server products 2000/2003 & 2008, Exchange 2007 & 2010, and related technologies such as backup systems, email systems, virus protection, desktop operating systems, network faxing, contact management, and so on.
- Detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of IP protocols, firewalls, and routers.
- Experience configuring, installing, and troubleshooting centralized network infrastructure such as routers, hubs, switches, and so forth.
- VMWare experience desirable
- Excellent ability to solve problems independently and a high degree of self motivation in order to successfully tackle challenges
- Stable career history (Law Firm and/or Association experience a big plus)
- Strong Project Management capabilities
